Gentlemen,
Keeping with the trend of rebuilding our defense, the Carolina Panthers are pleased to select talented CB, Curtis Marsh. We are very glad that he was able to fall to us here. Blessed with good speed, and size, Curtis is definitely an athletic threat. He does, however, need to improve on his defensive instincts and overall footwork. Nevertheless, we are looking forward to working with him, and believe that with time, he will become an elite defensive back in this league

The Titans felt that we were in prime position to gain picks back from the Cam Newton trade and still get a player we have high on our board in Davon House.
He is a nice big compliment to Cortland Finnegan and we hope that duo will be a force for years to come, LISTEN UP INDY!!
The Bengals had back-to-back picks early in the third round. We have selected Andy Dalton, QB, TCU and Greg Little, WR, UNC.
We had a mid-second round grade in Dalton. We think his best fit is the west coast offense, where he can use his strengths to their fullest in the NFL. Dalton comes into camp competing for the starting QB job.
Greg Little is a guy we’re taking a chance on. We think he would have easily been a second round pick had he not missed his final season as a Tar heel. We feel Little’s upside outweighed any perceived character questions. He has the physical ability to be a starting WR in the NFL. He’s also a great fit for the WCO because we can take advantage of his great YAC ability.
With the 8th pick in the 3rd round, the Dolphins select Clint Boling, OG/OT, Georgia. One of our targeted areas of need was the interior offensive line, and Boling is the big, versatile offensive lineman we need. As a four-year starter, he will bring experience to the line as a rookie. We are excited he fell to us.
With the 15th pick in the 3rd round, the Dolphins select D.J. Williams, TE, Arkansas. One of the things we wanted to do in this draft was add athleticism to the tight end position, and Williams is a perfect fit. Although a bit small for his position, he is an excellent and athletic pass-catching TE, with great blocking skills to complement his receiving repertoire. Pairing him with teammate Ryan Mallett was just the icing on the cake.
We the Titans felt the value of Daniel Thomas in the late 3rd was too good to pass up. We see a great future in our NEW duo of Lightning (C.Johnson) and Thunder (D.Thomas)
The Jaguars were between two players with pick 3.16, CB Johnny Patrick and LB Kelvin Sheppard. I went with Patrick because I felt there were a lot of similar linebackers to Sheppard that would likely be available at my next pick (3.25), but there were not a lot of corners left with Patrick’s upside. I pulled the trigger on Patrick because he’s solid in zone coverage but can come up and make a play on the ball or tackle the ball carrier. He’s got solid ball skills and is still learning to play the position. Overall, we feel Patrick can compete for a starting spot (moving Mathis to FS) or play some nickel, and he should also be an asset on special teams.
With pick 3.25, finding Sheppard gone, we decided to take LB Nate Irving from North Carolina State. Irving and Sheppard were almost identically ranked on our board, so this was an easy decision. Irving should team with our second-round pick Martez Wilson to help form a young, exciting linebacking corps for the future. We see Irving as the MLB in the base 4-3, and as an ILB in the 3-4 looks we’ll be showing from time to time. He also has special teams ability and is a natural leader. We are glad to be adding a player of Nate’s caliber as late as the end part of the third round.
Overall, the Jaguars are ecstatic to be able to select Christian Ponder, Martez Wilson, Christian Ballard, Johnny Patrick, and Nate Irving within the first three rounds while ending up with MORE picks in the remaining four than we started with.

Stepping away from defense for a moment, the Carolina Panthers decided to grab the best offensive threat left in the draft, Jerrel Jernigan. Explosive, and devilishly fast, Jernigan can also serve the role of kick/punt returner for us. He also is a terrific inside route runner, with good hands, and will thus fit in nicely as a slot receiver for our organization. We firmly believe the Jerrel could be akin to a Percy Harvin type player for our team, and we look forward to having him work with Jimmy Clausen in the future.
As for our 4th round selection, we couldn’t veer away from improving our defense for too long, and considering the question marks surrounding our linebacker core, the Panthers decided to grab value here with our selection of OLB, K.J Wright. A good combination of size, and athleticism, Wright has the potential to be a staple point within our organization. He posses good straight line speed, and should fit in nicely as a depth player in our defense in the upcoming season.

At 4.02 Seattle Seahawks select DE Pernell McPhee of Mississippi State.
Our pass rush was okay last season, but most of our sacks came of blitzing. Pernell McPhee is a talented pass rusher but most of all a versatile player who fits our scheme well. We expect him to bolster our D-line and help create the consistent pressure we lacked last season.
We’ve traded back into the fourth round, and with pick 4.17 the Vikings are pleased to introduce Iowa safety Tyler Sash. We feel that Tyler will be able to play either safety position in our Cover-2, and he brings several outstanding qualities to our secondary that we’ve been lacking. First and foremost, Tyler’s a flat out playmaker — he’s a violent hitter, and as his 13 career interceptions would suggest, he has a nose for the ball. He’s a gamer who makes up for potential physical limitations with tremendous instincts, energy, fundamentals, and football I.Q.. He’s a maximum effort player who brings the kind of leadership we’re looking for, and we expect him to make an immediate impact in our secondary. We coveted Tyler, and when he was still available midway through the fourth round, we had to move. With Blaine Gabbert, Joseph Barksdale, and Tyler Sash, we believe we’ve addressed our three biggest areas of weakness with three Week 1 starters.
@3.27, the Atlanta Falcons addressed protecting their franchise QB, Matt Ryan, and bolstering their run game by selecting versatile Wisconsin OL, John Moffitt. Wisconsin was a strong running team this year, and that bodes well for Moffitt in the run heavy offense of ATL. Moffitt is a value as well, because he can play C/G/ and OT.
At 3.32 the Bengals are proud to announce the selection of safety Jaiquawn Jarrett of Temple. We feel Jarrett is one of the most coveted underrated prospects in this years draft. To draft him as late into the 3rd as we did is a blessing. He has a chance to compete for substantial playing time in 2011.
The Raiders will look to improve the passing game in 2011 and adding another WR to the stable of young players will only help Jason Campbell.
Darrius Heyward-Bey is entering his last season before the bust label is applied and Jacoby Ford and Louis Murphy need to add consistency. Chaz Schilens hasn’t stayed healthy.
The Raiders hope Edmond Gates speed can help them and with a little coaching will be the dynamic deep threat DHB hasn’t developed into.
Gates presence should push the other receivers to elevate their game and the Raiders will go into 2011 with a wide-open competition for the starting jobs outside, Gates included.
Rd 3 pick 4. James Carpenter OT. The Bills used their first two picks to address a defense that could not be over looked. With the third pick we were very excited to have OT James Carpenter fall to us. Just as his name suggests this is a hard working big man who earned 1st team All-SEC selection by the coaches. Carpenter started 27 straight games at Left Tackle, but we expect him to move to the right side and put a stop to the revolving door of players the Bills went through last year.
Entering this draft we had many needs and not enough picks so we were able to use our 2nd round pick to give us many more picks and we were fortunate to fill three needs in this round with players we felt highly about entering this draft. Bailey was in the top 15 on many boards entering the season and fits our scheme. Jones is one of the best linebackers in this draft and if not for being undersized we believe he would have gone in the early to mid second round. We had a third round grade on Stanzi and could not let him fall any further considering he gave us good value and fit a major need for our team.

Round 3 brought a mixed bag for the Cleveland Browns. We were extremely pleased to add the lesser-known Clemson DL, Jarvis Jenkins. Our man in Rumford dropped this little (well, actually, he’s rather large) gem on us via tweet bomb and, well, we socked it away for good use later on. And upon further review of the videotape, this kid can play. And in Cleveland, he can play a LOT, right now. That’s two DL starters added in the first 3 rounds. Bowers, Jenkins and Rubin puts my mind at some ease, however, that we’re headed in the right direction. Meanwhile, we traded back into the mid-late 3rd to select DeMarcus Love, OT from Arkansas. Actually, we traded back up to select Marcus Gilbert, only to discover he had come off the board much higher than we anticipated. Rookie mistake. Love will provide depth and will compete for both jobs on the right side of the offensive line. Just tried to hit a single after missing our pitch.
