Trade Log:

Indianapolis Colts have traded pick 2.21, 3.23, and their 1st, 3rd (’12) for the New England Patriots 1.17

17 Wisconsin OT Gabe Carimi — A rock-solid addition at the weakest position on Indy’s roster.

22 Florida G/C Mike Pouncey — Starts at guard in year one and center for the next ten years.

119 Rutgers S Joe Lefeged — A poor man’s Devin McCourty with lots of special teams value.

152 Stanford NT Sione Fua — Run stopper lacking in pass-rush ability and long-term upside.

188 West Virginia WR Jock Sanders — Slot receiver prospect probably better cut out for AFL.

To secure Carimi’s services, the Colts surrendered second- and third-round picks in this year’s draft, as well as first- and third-rounders next year.  That sounds like a lot, but Indianapolis got to keep No. 22, used it wisely, and picked up a ten-year starting tackle.  And who knows if there will even be a 2012 draft?  Make no mistake: This draft was geared to capitalize on what’s left of Peyton Manning’s window.  Manning turned 35 last month, and the Colts aren’t getting back to the Super Bowl without improvement along the offensive line.  Hard to not like the aggressiveness.
