9 Auburn DT Nick Fairley — Fairley should’ve been strongly considered at 2; he’s robbery at 9.

36 Iowa DE Adrian Clayborn — Fine value, but an odd pick for a team with an established RE.

43 Notre Dame TE Kyle Rudolph — The Broncos’ third first-round talent in a row.  Impressive.

73 North Carolina LB Quan Sturdivant — An athletic, versatile, sideline-to-sideline linebacker.

94 Ohio State CB Chimdi Chekwa — A corner with track-star speed but technique concerns.

126 Oklahoma State RB Kendall Hunter — May be the steal of the draft so late in the fourth.

186 California S Chris Conte — Poor man’s Eric Weddle with quality range for center field.

189 Nebraska OG Keith Williams — A powerful run blocker worth a stab late in round six.

247 Pittsburgh RB Henry Hynoski — Lead blocker is needed for run-happy coach John Fox.

This grader gave the Bengals the highest mark for strategy and need-filling reasons.  If we’re going straight off value, the Broncos may have outdone everyone.  Trading out of the No. 2 spot brought Denver a second-rounder in 2012 and a top-ten 2011 pick, and John Elway’s club still picked up a top-five talent at No. 9.  Hunter gives the Broncos a Maurice Jones-Drew clone to complement injury-prone Knowshon Moreno in the backfield.  Conte will be a sleeper to start ahead of Brian Dawkins in year one.  The Broncos smokescreened quarterbacks to perfection.

Grade: A-
